I was at Olympia Horse Show last Thursday to see the Puissance and I’m still in awe of what I saw. it was so wonderful to see such lovely examples of horsemanship from all the riders but mostly from Luca Maria Moneta. Every time he rode a round he brought his mare up to have a sniff of the wall and give her a piece of carrot. He then gave her a pat on the neck, cantered her forward, halted, reversed a couple of strides and then cantered around to the spread before tackling the wall. It was so sweet to watch. I understand completely that most riders don’t do this as it just makes their horses over excited. It wasn’t so much what he did as the way he did it. You could see the bond between them. I also love that he genuinely loves and seems to enjoy every ride.
It just made me so happy to watch.
